ABSTRACT

The frequency of appearance of MS in young populations justifies the rehabilitation intervention which is generally carried out for interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary groups. Occupational therapists and speech therapists must keep in mind the alterations in communication and daily life activities present in these cases. The effectiveness of neurorehabilitation programs in relation to occupational and speech therapies has been proven through different studies. That are insufficient in some areas. The global impact of the occupational therapy on MS has confirmed in the case of fatigue, the coordination and force of superior limbs by means of exercises program. There are scarce studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs for the dysarthria; as to aphasias no study has ben reported. In connection with dysphagia the compensatory techniques of neurorehabilitation are effective in a high degree, which allows a better nutrition and avoids breathing complications. It has been proven that a program of training for inspiratory muscles in people with progressive MS outpost has positive effects the breathing state.
