ABSTRACT

Objective. To construct and validate a clinical guide diagnostic based on scientific evidences to address a sudden neurological deficit, secondary to ischemic stroke in a previously healthy child.
Outcome. The developed guide directs the clinician regarding the studies to make sequential manner and according to the prevalence of diseases generating infarction in children.
Evidence. A systematic review of literature from 1998 to 2007 in the databases Medline and Ovid, were review for specific clinical questions regard ischemic stroke. The findings were categorized by evidence level and the grade of recommendation of the guide was determined.
Consensus. In the initial interview the clinical experts evaluate the relevance of the studies review for the recommended in the guide and a they were requested to qualify the scale using the Likert scale, about the relevance of the studies consulted and each of the points of the guide modifying it according they own experience in absence of documented evidences. The consensus was determined when the expert’s agreement was 80%.
