ABSTRACT

We present the case of a male infant that presents right cryptophthalmos and left ablepharon. The cryptophthalmos is a congenital defect described only one and a half century ago, and appears with a frequency of 20 for every 100,000 newborns. The reconstruction was performed in two surgical times, in which the upper eyelid of the left eye was reconstructed. We consider that the importance of this case is the low statistical description of this anomaly and the association with ablepharon as well as the description of the medical and surgical treatment for the left eye.
