ABSTRACT

At present vulvar melanoma is a challenge that must be treated with a multidisciplinary focus. Due to the fact that it is not very frequent and there are few and unspecific signs and symptoms, diagnosis is difficult and upon reasonable doubt supported by histopathology and extension studies, are necessary to make a final evaluation that commits the different specialities. Later, the type of resection and the possibility of reconstruction, from either local advance flaps or local distant tissues, would be defined. Considering blood irrigation from donor and receptor tissues, the re-establishment of local function, diminishing the impact of walking and sitting, creating a natural appearance and the possibility of neurological sensitivity can be achieved in a single surgical period.
