Background: The WeeFIM. (wee-functional independence measure) is an measurement instrument for the daily functional performance in patients nith disability, proviging 18 elements in such areas as following: self-care, mobility and cognition it is used, in children and teens between the ages of 6 moths to 21 years presenting developments functional retardations. Objectives: To demonstrate that the WeeFIM is a instrument which the improvement of functional activities in patients with cerebral palsy is observed. Material and methods: This is an observational, longitudinal, retrospective, descriptive study. The records of the patients that underwent WeeFIM at check-in were analyzed, and percentages, along with a subsequent one in the CRIT, Estado de Mexico. Their ages fluctuated between 5 to 17 years. The records of the patients that willingly dropped out of rehabilitation were excluded, along with those younger than 4 and older than 18. The resulting data was analyzed using the paired T method, between the initial and subsequent WeeFIM. Results: A total of 56 records were studied, 26 were females and 30 were males. An statistical significance of p ‹ 0.01 was found on all the elements of WeeFIM, observing a great improvement in the areas of cognition, mainly in understanding, expression and memory. A years was taken between the initial and subsequent valuation. Conclusion: The WeeFIM is an instrument that can help us objective the functional improvements in our patients with severe cerebral palsy, enabling us to better choices when treating them.
