ABSTRACT

Alimentary culture is one of the few topics of great academic interes and it has gotten to produce scientific publications in the last years. The publications and research on this topic put us in a context that allows us to think and reflect not on a particular concept as the culture, but it invite us to make questions and review the perceptions in order to understand those several expressions given in the material world and the people’s behavior. Mankind and feeding are one of those cases that have remained through the years, in several times and places determining the courses of the biggest cultures. Those elements and the context knowledge, in which both man and food have been adapted and developed, have shown the man’s ability and his determination to establish human settlements and later cities, traffic roads and commercialization, invasion routes and even places with appropriate conditions to subsist, or the development and expansion of several communities, its customs and practices.
