Several pigs were experimentally infected with T. solium eggs and euthanized 3 and 7 months later; thereafter, lesions due to the metacestode were later seen in the livers. In pigs euthanized 7 months after the infection, lesions were similar to those caused by Ascaris suum. Ascaris infection was ruled out in the animals in this study.
