Características epidemiológicas en pacientes con fisura labiopalatina

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the epidemiology of patients with cleft lip-palate at the Center for Dental Specialities. Material and methods: Observational, descriptive, transversal, retrospective, in which records were reviewed of 1,000 patients with cleft lip-palate, randomly selected to study its epidemiological characteristics. Results: 943 complete records were found. Were males accounted for 61% and 39% female. 61.6% were from the Toluca region. The 54.2% of the mothers were between 18 and 27 years old and in the same age group were 54.4% of the parents. The 82.4% of couples had fewer than five years apart in age. 90% of mothers were housewives and 39.8% of the parents was a workers. Patients were first pregnancy in 38.6% and 27.2% in the second. Cleft palate was the most common left-sided in 39%. Conclusions: Our findings are consistent with those reported in the literature.
