ABSTRACTIn the past 10-20 years the prevalence of type 2 diabetes has increased significantly in children and adolescents. Some of the main factors responsible for this global epidemic are overweight and obesity. This review considers various aspects of diagnosis, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, screening, prevention and treatment in children with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
