ABSTRACT
The clinical practice of orthodontics must be based on a sound philosophy of treatment and diagnosis that takes into account the quantitative and qualitative favorable or unfavorable results achieved with such a treatment.
Factors identified to be essential in contributing to successful and unsuccessful treatment results are discussed and how they are related to growth and development of the patient in active treatment, involving biomechanical elements to achieve results.
