ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the health profile of the disability evaluation by general disease occurred in the worker insured in the disability- and-life branch. Materials and Methods: A total of 123 disability evaluations were reviewed in Family Medicine Out-patient Clinic Number 80 located in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, from January to December 2007 in the Occupational Medical Office. Results: These were as follows: disability rate, 1.1; male:female ratio,3:1; the most affected group comprised males aged 50_54 years and females aged 55_59 years; the most affected occupational category, 16.3% agricultural activities, and the most frequent pathologies were arthropathies at 17.4% and dorsopathies at 17.4%. Definitive disability evaluation was 78%, while temporary disability evaluation was 22%. Average disability days due to general disease was 54.5 days. Conclusions: The disability evaluation provides information utilized to define the preventive models that limit the occurrence of disability states.
