Aggression to the dignity and autonomy of the subjected children to painful procedures

ABSTRACT

Objective. Answer the question: why the pediatrician shown a behavior almost indifferent in the presence of child with pain. Methods. A questionnaire was applied to 121 pediatricians. The questions were related to the procedures used in the clinical management which are painful for the children, and the definition of some bioethical concepts. Results. Seventy four of the pediatrician do not used analgesics before puncture the children for obtained blood, for treatment or for vaccination; also, 84 do not used it in the procedure for correction bone fractures. Conclusion. There is a clear insensibility of the pediatricians before the pain of the children which must be corrected.
