ABSTRACT
Objective. To identify the semantic meaning of breast feeding and bottle.Material and methods. A survey with four stimulus questions about the semantic meaning of: 1. Mother’s breast, 2. Mother’s milk, 3. Baby’s bottle, and 4. Formula, was conducted with the Natural and Semantic Nets technique.
Results. Women reported higher scores for the semantic meaning of the stimulus’ words.
Conclusions. Women and men mainly express themselves with semantic objective terms (denotative ones). Only few defining words belong to the connotative (affective) group. Nonpregnant women have greater semantic richness as well as those older than nineteen. Semantic Natural Net’s technology about the period of lactation allows observing the subjective culture for those polled.
