ABSTRACT

Background: Autopsy reports have shown genitourinary disorders in 57% of patients with leukemia.
Objectives: Inform about the urologic complications in a 12 year-old child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia after a bone marrow transplant.
Results: The child occurred with macroscopic hematuria, left renal pain, acute renal failure and left renouretheral lithiasis.
Discussion: Hemorrhagic cystitis is the main urological complication in patients with leukemia.
Conclusion: Percutaneous cystostomy for bladder irrigation and transurethral catheter are key elements in the treatment of hemorrhagic cystitis.
