Marijuana abuse and its impact on mental health and skills required for cognitive learning

ABSTRACT

This article presents the marijuana as the most consumed illicit drug worldwide, the most exposed population are young people who are experiencing an expansion of consumption. Social tolerance to this drug is associated with the misperception that we have about it, seeing it as little dangerous, and therefore low risk. A review on the neurobiological advances have occurred in recent years concluding that if introduced drugs to the brain when it is still evolving, there may be profound and long lasting. Prolonged use of high doses of THC can lead to a state of passivity and indifference (amotivational syndrome). Also provide data that indicate the magnitude and importance of marijuana as a trigger for psychotic disorders and aggravating schizophrenic disorders. Finally, you select the major components that contribute to justify the current social debate on the various uses of cannabis (therapeutic, medical, etc.).
