ABSTRACT
Oral cancer has been increasing over the last decade, accounting for between 1 and 5% of all malignancies. The high incidence is due to many factors among them the increase in the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, type of diet, heredity, exposure to certain physical, chemical or biological, including HPV infection as a cofactor for the development of these neoplasms. The oral squamous cell carcinoma (CSOC) occupies 95% of cases. This article reviews the literature of oral cancer in Mexico and reported a clinical case treated in the Hospital General Dr. Darío Fernández Fierro (ISSSTE).
