Laparoscopic training box.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To construct a domestic laparoscopic training box that resembles as much as possible the actual commercial equipment’s, which represents a training option for the residents of gynecology and surgery in the Angeles del Pedregal hospital. Materials: For the accomplishment of the model we use: wooden boards, paint, security camera, light bulbs and rubber, Tv set and disposable laparoscopic material. Practice Material: grapes, fabric and sutures. Methods: There are plenty varieties of training boxes, with different prices, some of them quite expensive, we think that the best option could be is the one who can be easily constructed so it can be used by any one willing to learn abilities in laparoscopic surgery. This model allows any doctor to practice laparoscopic exercises every day to achieve the necessary skills. Results: It’s possible to construct this training model in 3 hours and doesn’t need of previous preparation, it’s possible to initiate the practice immediately only in spite of connecting the plug, it will be possible to practice in a classroom, the residence or even in the house without the need to search time free for the use of the operating room and without extra help. Conclusions: It’s not possible to teach the skill, but it could be acquired by practice and in laparoscopic surgery the perfect method will be using training boxes. Our training model is of easy accomplishment and simulates in an authentic way the already patent models. It’s a good option for hospitals that don’t have resources or availability of operating rooms.
