Normolipidemic xanthomatosis and palindromic rheumatism

ABSTRACT

Xanthomas are common cutaneous presentation of disorders of lipid metabolism, usually associated with anormalities of colesterol. A 38-year-old man, diagnosed of palindromic rheumatism, presented to us with the lesions of xanthelasmas on the upper and under eyelids and macular xanthomas on neck, inside of arms and hips. The lipid profile was within normal range and serum protein electrophoresis showed a monoclonal gammopathy Ig G Kappa. The development of the cutaneous lesions were simultaneously with the rheumatism.
