ABSTRACT

Several aspects such as the professional profile of a professor of excellence, its characteristics, fundamental principles and the roles that it should play in the English language subject as foreign language were dealt with in the present paper. The author took the experience of various international experts and his own professional practical experience for 44 years to analyze the difficulties faced by the educators from the language departments in the University of Medical Sciences of Havana (UCM-H) due to lack of deep knowledge on the essential requirements to reach this position. The paper stated the advantages that knowing and implementing these aspects would bring for the improvement of the process of English teaching-learning, for the university and for the educator as well.
