Security technique in laparoscopic cholecystectomy applied as a tutorial teaching model to residents of the Specialization Course in General Surgery

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Learning laparoscopic surgery is one of the pillars within the surgical residency system. Thus it is important that the learning process for the resident receives training, supervision and direct assessment of expert surgeons using a tutorial model of teaching and a standardized, systematic and replicable.
Objective: To report on the experience gained with the use of safety technique of laparoscopic cholecystectomy as a model of tutorial teaching, describing it and its short-term results.
Design: Descriptive, transversal, retrospective.
Setting: Third level health care hospital.
Material and methods: From January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2010, all laparoscopic cholecystectomies performed by general surgery residents, using this technique, which were supervised and evaluated by course tutors.
Results: Three hundred and seven cases were performed in women (80.16%) and 76 men (19.84%). The average duration was 46 minutes. Conversion to open surgery in 1 case II Mirizzi syndrome.
Conclusion: Safety Technique performed and implemented in the General Hospital of Mexico, is a model for teaching safe and effective tutorial.
