ABSTRACT

The palatal rugae, transverse patterns of the anterior hard palate, have been described as important traits to make undoubted identification when premortem information (casts, photographs, prosthesis) is available. However, a morphological analytic system to make anthropological-cut procedures when premortem data is not available, has been not reported today. This work proposes a morphological codification of palatal rugae to obtain more reliable records to categorize them numerically to obtain patterns of identification like sex, age and rage. This work proposes the Palatoglifia word to design the package of palatal mucous relief details: crests and rugae.
