ABSTRACT

The craniofacial reconstruction is a surgical method that has advanced on the last few years. New materials like titanium and HTR (Hard tissue replacement) can be used on treatment of osseus sequelae of trauma, gunshot or tumoral resections. Besides the nature of this tailor made prosthetics makes the aesthetic and functional results to be substantially better than with other technologies; also the procedure is faster because there isn’t need to adapt the prosthesis or osteotomies. However the main disadvantage is the high cost, and the lack of manufacturing facilities in Mexico which involves the use of overseas laboratories for fabrication. This article presents a case of craniofacial reconstruction with tailor made HTR.
