ABSTRACT

Antecedents: In the muscle skeletal neoplasias classification, the humerus tumor occupies the third place of affection. Because these types of lesion have high degree of complications, it has resorted different techniques to the surgical treatment, although no one has considered the gold standard for this pathology. Presentation of the case: The first case of preservation of upper limb in a teenage boy with proximal humerus osteosarcoma whose was attended in the Hospital para el Niño de Toluca del Instituto Materno Infantil del Estado de México is reported. The surgical procedure consisted in tumour resection and application of a nonconventional endoprosthesis model RC-8, fourth generation made in titanium and polyethylene of HD. It includes a system of distraction in length of eight centimeters. This paper describes the surgical technique and the patient post surgery evolution. Conclusions: After three months of the surgical event, the patient has recovered 60% of the mobility of the affected shoulder.
