ABSTRACT

Background: Giving the procedure of assisted reproduction for broader population is a challenge for Mexican social institutions.
Objective: To present the experience of an assisted reproduction program performed in the reproduction service of Centro Medico Nacional 20 de Noviembre, from 2006 to 2008.
Patients and methods: In this study 107 patients were included, who performed assisted reproduction from October 2006 to May 2008. There were reviewed variables of inclusion such as age, basal FSH, type of infertility and stimulation related with rate of fertilization, embryos transferred and clinical pregnancy.
Results: From 107 cycles it was reached a global fertilization rate of 84.3%. There were performed 82 transfers and the rate of success was 31.7%. There were obtained ten alive babies, six miscarriages, two ectopic pregnancies and eight pregnancies in course.
Conclusions: The service of assisted reproduction of a social institution as Centro Medico Nacional 20 de Noviembre has similar results compared to those of programs from other countries. This program benefits a sector of Mexican population that is covered by ISSSTE medical social security.
