ABSTRACT
This report describes the case of a 53-year-old patient with an over-erupted second molar blocking the space to be restored that had been left by a previously lost antagonist. The plan of treatment involved the intrusion of the upper molar using two orthodontic mini-implants with 150 g of force. After 9 months of treatment, 5 mm of distal intrusion of the molar was achieved and 3 mm mesial intrusion. The upper molar was leveled to a suitable degree and rehabilitation of the lower molar was performed by placing a lower pontic. The intruded molar was fixed to the mini-implants for a period of 6 months using metallic ligatures to retain it.
No relapse was observed at the 12-month control visit and the molar responded well to vitality tests carried out at a subsequent recall visit.
