ABSTRACT

Organisms have developed systems antioxidant defense systems to deal with the planet oxidative atmosphere and with the oxidative metabolism. These systems allowed evolution of life in this antioxidant defense to confront to the atmosphere oxidative of the planet and to the oxidative metabolism that allowed evolution of life in that atmosphere, reaching efficient buffer antioxidant systems that conserve capacity to reduce free radicals, reactive species and endogenous and exogenous oxidants. These buffer antioxidant systems lead into the system of glutatión-NADPH and with NADP+ reduction from the metabolism, where regenerate and load hydrogens and electrons.Of such a formantioxidant enzymes, antioxidant cosustrates and antioxidant endogenous and exogenous generate barriers to take the reduction of the oxidants and to diminish thisway their oxidative power, withwhat there are confront the varieties of diverse species and oxidative forms capable of attacking to the organism. The antioxidant systems can measure up of different specific forms and the global buffer antioxidant system can measure up to the tests of total antioxidant capacity; the technical and interpretive improvement of these technologies allowed to profounder into the basic knowledge of the forms of defense of the cell, it has multiplied the studies of antioxidant capacity from pure substances up to complex organisms, serving even for diagnostic methods and evaluation of the efficiency of treatments.
