ABSTRACT

Varicocele is the leading cause of surgically correctible male infertility. The hypothesis of diminishing blood flow and alteration in microvasculature of the testicle due to increase of venous pressure would be reflected, theoretically, in an increase of resistance and pulsatility indices in the capsular branches of the testicular artery. Thirty-three patients were studied in our sample: study group 13 patients, control group 20 patients. They all were evaluated with testicular Doppler color echography and with spermatobioscopy as diagnostic method. No statistically significant difference was observed in the resistance and pulsatility indices in capsular branches of the testicular artery in patients with varicocele.
