ABSTRACT

Mastoid osteomas are rare, benign bone tumors. They present as a hard retroauricular mass, usually asymptomatic with a chronic course. The diagnosis is based on clinical examination and CT imaging and it is confirmed with histopathology result. Surgical management is usually justified by cosmetic reasons or for those symptomatic lesions. This paper reviews the case of a patient treated National Medical Center 20 de Noviembre, Mexico City, and reviews and analyzes the case reports in the literature in order to establish the clinical characteristics of this rare entity.
