ABSTRACT

Objectives: To design an educational intervention directed to qualify the domiciliary caretakers the elderly without immobility, neither with dementia in the municipality Sagua, during the year 2010.
Methods: This investigation applied the cuanti-qualitative focuses in the investigation in health through a prospective longitudinal descriptive study in the municipality Sagua, during the year 2010. 50 caretakers of the municipality of Sagua, of which a sample of 24 caretakers was selected through a sampling non-probabilistic by approaches, constituted the universe. For the collection of information questionnaires, interviews and the analysis of documents were used.
Results: The caretakers of superior age prevailed to the 36 years, married, and of feminine sex; while in the biggest adults those prevailed bigger than 76 years of age, homogeneous distribution of the sex; and the educational level was low for both cases. The interviewed caretakers demonstrated to have low knowledge for the development of their functions, observed the biggest difficulties in the handling of contingencies in the biggest adult.
Conclusions: The educational intervention designed on the base of the carried out previous diagnosis this planned to execute and to evaluate in a period of one year, according to the elaborated program. The specialists valued the design of the educational intervention as pertinent and feasible.
