ABSTRACT

A transversal, quantitative-descriptive study was carried out by us. We took as reference population the patients attending to the Child Neuropsychology consultation from the "Chiqui Gómez" policlinic, in Santa Clara city, in the period December 2006 to December 2007. About two hundred of children were treated due to common consultations related to the disorder we are studying or other similar health status. After the inclusion and exclusion criteria established were applied, we proceeded by taking an incidental sample, non-random sampling,of 25 children between 6-12 years, of both sexes, who were diagnosed with attention deficit disorder using a clinical-psychological test. To this aim, an EEG was performed using the 10/20 system, through which an energy increase in the absolute and relative powers of the slow bands (theta-delta) was identified; delta activity prevailed in relative powers. The manifestation of both powers in the regions and hemispheres for the slow bands was similar and in the bilateral frontal region they had to a greater extent a power increase, in descending order it was followed by the right frontal-parietal-temporal region and the left temporal region, which was an indicative of more affectation on the ride side.
