ABSTRACT

The fractures of third distal of lukewarm extra-articulars are considered as transition area in which the treatment is controversial. Main objective. To determine the predict of the surgical treatment of the fractures of third distal of lukewarm. Material and methods. They were studied patients operated with the diagnose of fracture of third distal of lukewarm extra-articulars among January from 1999 to December 31 the 2000, making a total of 46 patients, the data analyzing them with Chi2. Results. Of the 46 patients 50% was treated with badges and the other 50% with external fixers, 28 men (61%), 18 women (39%). In advance of hospitalization average of 7 days, beginning the deambulation before the group of patients operated with badges to the 3 months contrary to those operated with external fixers to the 4 months. Discussion. The treatment with badges is the suitable for fractures of third distal of lukewarm to extra-articulate (p = 0.03). Patients have better evolution the fractures of third distal of lukewarm tried surgically without restoring the fibula longitude in the group with external fixers (p = 0.07). The complications are frequents in the patients operated with external fixers is the pseudoarthrosis and in those operated with badges is the exhibition of the osteosyntesis material (p = 0.04).
