ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the diagnostic value of the test of Immunoblot using hydatid antigen coming from human and to compare it with the bovine and ovine antigen. Methods: 40 patients were studied with hydatid disease confirmed surgically, 20 patients with other illnesses and 20 healthy patients. To each patient they were carried out the test of Immunoblot using hydatid antigen coming from human hepatic cyst, likewise with hydatid antigen coming from bovine and ovine pool. Results: The sensibility, specificity, Positive Predictive Value and Negative predictive value of the test of Immunoblot using antigen from Human fluid with the band of 38 KDa was of 88, 75, 78 and 100%, bovine antigen with the band of 38 KDa was of 75, 100, 100, 100% and ovine antigen with the band of 21-31 KDa was of 95, 95, 95 and 100% respectively. Conclusion: The test of Immunoblot using hydatid antigen coming from human presents smaller diagnostic value that using bovine and ovine antigen.
