ABSTRACT

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a systemic disease characterized by vasculitis, necrotizing granulomas of arteries of small and medium caliber and glomerulonephritis. There is a limited form of Wegener’s granulomatosis which is manifested in the upper and lower respiratory tract, most patients show clinical signs in the nose and sinuses. The prevalence of otological damage varies from 19% to 38%. In the form limited to the ear, biopsies are taken from very small sample sizes, so it is difficult to reach a definitive diagnosis and studies such as the c-ANCA are required. The most frequent otological manifestation in Wegener’s granulomatosis is serous otitis media.
