ABSTRACT

There are many factors in volved in the teaching-learning process that have to do with the student, the teacher and the institution; some of them are modifiable. The training of specialist physicians is a recent activity in constant evolution. Currently the postgraduate studies division of the UNAM Faculty of Medicine has 75 medical specialties registered. In 2007, Hospital Juárez de México had a total of 22 specialties with 280 residents ranging from 1 to 7 years. The 15-month Master Plan for Education lmprovement was established in early 2006. One of the first activities conducted consisted of applying the questionnaire for resident physicians that includes 121 questions divided into the following sections: I- Personal; II. Material; III. - Organizational; IV.- Educational; V.- Intellectual; VI. - Suggestions. lt is necessary to reach a consensus on schedules, avoid dispersion and unify the various hospital services in the educational programs. Among other things, the Master Plan led to the creation of an Education direcction, independent from the Research Direction and the Coordination for Educational Research in Health. The joint effort of Directors, Professors and Residents is needed to overcome some of the abnormalities documented.
