ABSTRACT

Introduction. Topical antiseptics are used on infected wounds due to their effect on the decrease of microorganisms. Nevertheless, the resistance generated and the adverse effects have limited their use. With this regard, the super-oxidised solutions have arisen as an alternative; these have not adverse cytotoxic effects. Today, numerous complex systems have been created advantages with respect to the conventional systems, but the cost is high; so the need of create a system with the same results with lower cost came up. In view of this matter, the system of continue irrigation and aspiration with super-oxidised solution (SIACRE) is proposed. It has demonstrated a time improvement of 50% on infected wounds, with no treatment failure and no adverse effects compared to the conservative method of surgical-water-and-soap washing. Materials and methods. A study was carried out in 20 patients with abdominal surgical pathology, who at the postoperative shown an infected wound; with 13 days of progress and no treatment response. They were divided in two groups, one of them were treated with the system of continue irrigation and aspiration with super-oxidised solution (SIACRE) and the other group with surgical-water-and-soap washing. Results. An average of 10 days was shown by the group treated with SIACRE, improving the infected wounds; whilst in the other group only two patients shown an improvement up to the 16th day and the rest had to use other alternative because they did not improve by the 20th day. Conclusions. The SIACRE system demonstrated to have a better effectiveness than the conventional method, reducing considerably the time of the hospitalisation.
