ABSTRACT

Introduction. The lozenge fractures are a pathology relatively little frequent. On its opportune and specific treatment the improvement of the patient depends, exist multiple complications which it is exhibited the had an operation patient. Objective. To analyze the causal of fault in the treatment of the lozenge fractures with wire system type shroud. Material and methods. By means of data collection the frequency of the surgical fault in patients was determined who entered to the service of Orthopaedics and Orthopedic Surgery and that was dealt with open reduction and internal fixation with cerclage about wire in 8 type shroud. Results. 36 patients in the period between June of 2009 and June of 2010; studied 19 men and 17 women. Faults in 8 of the cases appeared, the main causes were the dehiscence of the wound, the rejection and the rupture of the material, each with two cases. Also was a case with relaxation of the system and another case with infection. A cup of success of the 77.78% was obtained. One also determined if relation between the type of fracture and the type of complication exists that appears in each of them. Discussion. One will be due to take special well-taken care of in the positioning technique of the cerclage, being avoided to attack less possible weaves in trans and postsurgical. Of being possible to verify the quality and the origin of the osteosynthesis material to diminish the possibility of complications to the maximum. Conclusions. This study shows a tendency similar to the failure the reported one in worldwide literature and the relation discards that could exist between the type of fracture and the incidence of complications.
