ABSTRACT

Material and methods. Cytogenetic study was performed in 35 patients diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) de novo treated at the Hematology Service of Hospital Juárez de México between 2007 and 2010. Results. 29% had normal karyotype and 71%, abnormal clones; and of these, 80% were structural and 20%, numerical. The 48% of the patients had additional abnormalities, both numerical and structural cytogenetic study correlation with haematological data revealed that the leukocyte count increased significantly in patients with abnormal karyotype, but not in the hb and Pt. Could not to establish the prognosis according to cytogenetic findings, because patients arrive in terminal stages of the disease and also stop treatment in the phase of remission induction.
