ABSTRACT

Acute appendicitis is a common disease, but their association as the first symptom of Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is extremely rare with a reported incidence of 3.4-15%. Neoplasms may cause an obstruction of the lumen of the appendix and subsequently result in appendicitis, and this is particularly important in the elderly. We report the case of a male patient of 59 years without significant medical history with symptoms of acute appendicitis in which was identified a perforation occurred in a colorectal tumor, reaching the appendiceal wall, causing inflammation and peritoneal carcinomatosis.
