ABSTRACT

PAD (Peripheral Artery Disease) it is an important public health problem that is ignored and it is consider an infradiagnosed disease for a lot of physicians. The ambulatory method of preference for the diagnosis is the The Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) is the ratio of the systolic blood pressure in the lower legs to the systolic blood pressure in the arms. Since these test need a Doppler Wand, there is some options to measure these index without the Doppler that are exposed in these article .Like the palpation ABI, Auscultatory ABI and the Oscillometric ABI. These methods are sensitive enough to consider them in the primary care practice as screening methods. But can’t replace the Doppler ABI, since they are not very accurate in patient with crural disease, patients with lower pressures and in patients with non palpable pulses.
