Informed consent utilization by pedodontists in Mexico City

ABSTRACT

In the last few years the number of lansurts has increased in Mexico that’s why it’s so important to have a informed consent for the patient. In pedodontics is very common to use different kinds of techniques to handle the child conduct; that’s why is necessary to obtain that consent, so can be performed the treatment. In the pedodontics it’s common the use of a technique for handling behavior it is necessary to obtain this consent in writing to carry out the treatment. That takes us to question, does most of the pedodontist use the informed consent for application of techniques of behavioral handling in pediatric patient in the Mexico City? How helps the informed consent for the application of techniques of behavioral handling in pediatric patients in preventing lansuits. Would the pedodontist be willing to accept an established format of informed consent for this application? The method used in this research was a direct questionary of 8 questions, which gave us that most of the pedodontist use the informed consent, and the techniques of behavior handling are explained to the patients, in a verbal way, they are aware that this document may prevent possible lawsuits, and they are willing to use a established format.
