ABSTRACT

Mycosis Fungoide (MF) accounts for 50 % of all cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, the incidence of the disease has increased over the last decade in our centre. Our goal was to characterize the behavior of MF for the patients treated from 2006 to 2010 at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital from Havana, Cuba. A retrospective study was conducted considering demographic and clinical variables. The Statistical method used was the Percentage Method. Results: The size of the sample was 101 patients, the average age was 53.1 years old, the difference between the number of female and male patients was not significant, most patients were classified as Hispanic or Caucasian. According to the TNBM classification, we found 88,1% of patients with early stage MF. The objective response to treatment was 61.4 %, 26.7 % of patients remained stable, 5.9 % showed progression of the disease and 5.9 % died, from which 83.3 % died of the disease. The five year survival rate was 87 %. Conclusions: Results for demographic variables were similar to those found in literature. The classic type and the early stages of the disease were predominant. No factors affecting the debut and progression of the disease were identified. The deaths were related to the later stages of the disease. The three year survival rate was high.
