ABSTRACT

The heterotopic pregnancy is the combination of intrauterine and ectopic pregnancy. Is uncomon, however the frequency is increasing. The first case was reported in 1708 by Duverney at autopsy. In 1948, the frequency reported was 1:30,000 pregnancies. Recent references report rates raging between 1:1,300 to 1: 15,600 pregnancies; this rise in frequency may be associated with the expansion of assisted reproduction and the progressive increase in presentation of pelvic inflammatory disease cases. In patients who conceive with assisted reproduction, the incidence can reach 1%, in patients without risk factors; the presence of heterotopic pregnancy, remains an exotic obstetric event, occurs approximately in one case on 4,000 spontaneous pregnancies. In this work we present a case of an extrauterine pregnancy, with hormonal restitution therapy for long periods, finished with minimal invasion surgery, developing a miscarriage and with good prognosis for the patient.
