RESUMEN

Los hematomas pulmonares son una complicación de relativamente poca frecuencia tras los traumatismos torácicos. Sus principales complicaciones, y que constituyen indicación de cirugía en estos pacientes, son la infección, hemoptisis y sospecha de malignidad. La ruptura de los mismos a cavidad pleural es un evento adverso poco descrito. Se realiza la presentación de un paciente con un hematoma del lóbulo inferior del pulmón izquierdo, de tres semanas de evolución, roto a cavidad pleural y tratado exitosamente por cirugía videotoracoscópica.
