ABSTRACT

Fibrous dysplasia is a single or multiple benign osteofibrous lesion with a low and gradual replacement of lamellar bone with fibrous tissue containing isomorphic trabeculae of abnormal and small immature bone tissue, consisting of a metaplasia of the bone fibrous stromal, caused by a mutation in the G protein subunit Gs on chromosome 20 and described by Lichtenstein and Jaffe in 1942. The most common sites of the disease are all long bones, craniofacial bones, ribs and pelvis; rare column about 4.2% and the most affected area is back. The objective of this article is to report the case of a patient with thoracic spine involvement because it is a rare site of presentation, without typical symptoms, being a radiographic finding. Likewise, treatment with the use of a monoclonal antibody to RANKL, although it is not a specific therapy for this disease, has shown good results.
