ABSTRACT

In 2014, 161 years after the birth of José Martí, a reflection is given on the socio-historical, political and ethical value of the Manifesto of Montecristi, a relevant document in nineteenthcentury Cuban historiography. It is highlighted its value and contributions to the sociopolitical principles that should govern wars, and it should be studied by teachers and students.
