ABSTRACT

Prior informed consent has become a communication process, a cornerstone of the doctor-patient relationship. In the current postmodern era, the practice of highly technological and interventional medicine as well as research in humans provide a benefit to the general population and require the assurance of dignity, autonomy and justice to ensure the highest benefit and safety to patients within the framework of human rights protection. Prior informed consent is part of the cultural health care professional change that involves a bioethical and legal support.
