ABSTRACT

The JIA is the most common rheumatic disease in childhood, is considered in patients with inflammatory disorders before 16 years of age with symptoms for at least six weeks and that do not meet the diagnostic criteria for other conditions known. JIA encompasses a heterogeneous group of inflammatory disorders, which have been grouped into seven categories by the ILAR , among these are: systemic arthritis , which is considered the most serious type , the oligoartritis, in which there are four joint affected or less during the first 6 months of the disease; polyarthritis present with alteration of at least 5 joints and can be classified as FR- or FR + , the psoriatic arthritis occurs in those who present with arthritis and psoriasis simultaneously; arthritis with enthesitis is similar to spondyloarthropathy, however, the arthritis with enthesitis defined the pediatric affected; the undifferentiated arthritis are those that do not meet the diagnostic criteria for any specific category of JIA, or combines characteristics of various groups. Nowadays the treatment has had great advances, stands out the use of biological agents such as Etanercept , which has been shown to be safe and give new hope to those refractory.
