ABSTRACT

Intrauterine growth restriction is the consequence of the delay in growth and development potential of each individual, which occurs in response to maternal, fetal and placental causes. It is one of the principal causes of perinatal morbility and mortality and represents 10% of all pregnancies in the world. Its diagnosis and management have been established by prenatal control, ultrasound, Doppler and biophysical profile. In the last decade Doppler ultrasound has become of great relevance in the management of patients with IUGR because it has the best prediction of fetal outcome. The following article has the objective to analyze the most recent studies in the importance of Doppler in the management of singleton pregnancies with IUGR for its usefulness in decreasing perinatal morbimortality in the everyday clinical practice.
