Sancti SpÃritus: the presence of medicine in 500 years of history

ABSTRACT

The conservation of the historical memory of the peoples strengthens national identity and allows to set down the cultural, scientific and social heritage that for years has characterized the development of civilizations in the new generations. On the occasion of the five centuries of the founding of Sancti Spíritus, the fourth village erected by the Spanish colonists in Cuba, a synthesis of the presence of the medicine in the history of the town is presented with the aim of creating the necessary approach to this patrimonial legacy. From the methodological point of view this review is based on the criteria of historical research.
