Choledochal cyst, laparoscopic resection.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The definitive treatment for choledochal cyst is total resection with a hepatoyeyunoanastomosis (HY) in de Roux-En-Y. The aim is to present the experience and evolution of complete resection through a laparoscopic technique.
Material and Methods: A prospective study in 17 patients with bile duct dilatation. Laparoscopic resection of the cyst was performed, followed by HY Roux-En-Y, during a period of seven years.
Results: Patients ranged from 28 days old to 13 years, all of them were girls with type I cyst. A laparoscopic approach was performed using 3 right trocars and one left trocar. Transcutaneous references were used to facilitate the HY and a endoGIA® for de Roux-En-Y when ever the resource was available.
Discussion: Modifications to the laparoscopic technique are a good alternative in surgical management, reduces HY difficulties, and the stapler improves recovery time.
